Never thought I’d live on the side of a mountain, MILES away from civilization… but here we are 🙂

Serving on prayer mountain has looked like: chopping our way to a water source with machetes, taking cover from the rain in our tiny cabin, making chai tea over a fire, and listening to a mosaic of stories pieced together with a mix of languages.

When we are as uncomfotable as can be, who do we become?

No preferences. No comforts. No ways to avoid fear. No coping.

Can I still love others well when that’s my reality?

Can I still be completely in love with God when that’s my reality?

Galations 5 reminds me that it is only by walking in the Spirit that I am able to live like this. On my own, there is no way I could do this.

But with the Holy Spirit, I can live out of a place of love, no matter where I am.

That’s why the Bible says “they will know you by your fruit” We might look like crazy people: cold showers, wearing the same outfits everyday, working in the rain, and yet still singing praises of thanks to the God who has placed a spring of life in our hearts, bursting forth with Joy even when it makes no sense.

They say Guatemala is the land of eternal spring. I’m asking God to let this time on the mountain breathe that same eternal spring into my heart: one that pours forth with love even when all else is stripped away.
